Headtilts only uses cookies to follow your visit if you say yes. Everything else stays on your device, so the site works the way you left it.

## The short version

Google Analytics only switches on after you click Accept on the cookie banner. Until then, nothing is sent to Google.

### Change your mind

Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. We stop sending data and delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.

### Your browser’s signal counts

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a no and won’t even ask.

## If you accept

**Up to two years.** Google Analytics sets cookies named \_ga and \_ga\_…, which last up to two years.

### Can I clear all of this?

Yes. You can clear all of it at any time in your browser settings.

### What about videos and music players?

Some posts include players and maps from services such as YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode), Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Apple Music and Google Maps. When a page with one of these loads, your browser connects to that service. It can then see your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.

### Does the team get cookies?

Our team gets a login cookie when signing in to the admin area, and a small ht-staff note so their own visits aren’t counted. Readers never receive either.
