How we work

# Editorial standards

Headtilts is an independent music publication based in India. We work to be accurate and fair. This is what that means in practice.

## What we hold to

### Independent

We write what we believe. A review is the writer’s honest opinion, whoever made the record.

### Accountable

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so on the story.

[Accountable](https://headtilts.com/corrections)

### Checked

We check tips before using them, and we may use what you tell us in our reporting.

## When we get something wrong

### You tell us

If you spot a mistake, let us know.

### We fix it

We correct the story.

### We say so

On the story and on our corrections page.

## What we ask of contributors

- Tell us about any connection to a band in your pitch
- No paid links, sponsored posts or undeclared ties to the band
- Your own work, not published anywhere else

## How a story gets made

### Editing

We work through each piece with its writer and show them the edit before it goes live.

### Reviews

Reviews and editorials are the honest opinions of the people who write them. We can’t run a review of a writer’s own band or a client’s.

### News tips

You can send a news tip anonymously. If you do, we can’t come back to you with questions.

## Spotted a mistake?

Tell us which story and what’s wrong.
