Adarsh Kashyap: Vocalist of Quarantine Theory and Meluha Dies at 23

Adarsh Kashyap, singer,and songwriter of Quarantine Theory and Meluha, has passed away on Friday, October 16, at his residence in Silchar. He was 23 and at the time of reporting, the cause behind his death, as claimed by his family members, was a stroke.

Adarsh was one of the founding members of the prog/metalcore quartet Quarantine Theory and has released three singles with the group since then. Their second single ‘You Have A Breakdown Issue!’ released to critical acclaim, especially amidst the underground metal community all over India. Their last single ‘Inanimate Imaginate’, which was released back in February 2016, featured Motherjane guitarist Anubhav Langthasa who had then just joined the band.

Adarsh then went on to front fellow metal band Meluha in February 2017, right after the departure of their former vocalist Riki Patowary. With Meluha, he achieved new heights as they performed in several gigs throughout the region and received many accolades. Meluha grabbed the ‘Best Band’ award in Plexus 2018 Battle of Bands competition, an Annual Cultural festival of Silchar Medical College, Assam. His finest personal moment came probably when he won the ‘Best Vocalist’ title in Thundermarch 2019, Battle of Bands competition organized by the National Institute of Technology, Silchar. His vocal prowess was marked by sheer power with precision, aided by piercing guttural assault.

This news of the musician’s sudden untimely demise caught everyone in the metal scene by shock and grief. Samrat Kemprai, guitarist and co-founder of punk rock band Monday Work, who also happens to be a childhood friend of the late musician, was quoted saying in a Facebook post‘Farewell my friend Adarsh Kashyap. There are no goodbyes. Wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in my heart. You will always be within us, it’s just the graveyard where you lay to rest. Rest In Peace.’. Quarantine Theory also came up with a heart-wrenching post acknowledging this tragic news on their Facebook page. Although they haven’t quite made clear yet regarding the future of the band.

The band’s drummer and a close friend of Adarsh, Aranyak Das, who also plays for the Bangalore based metal act Kaihon, also took to Facebook to express his emotions surrounding the death of one of his own:

Meanwhile, Meluha is yet to come up with a statement regarding the loss of their frontman. The band is currently on a hiatus and the members are reportedly expecting privacy in this time of mourning until they come up with a public statement of their own.
