Indian black metal outfit Stark Denial has announced yesterday that they’ve roped in Rhennon D’Mello as their new frontman. Their former vocalist Kunal Gonsalves had left the band back in February 2020, and since then Stark Denial has been looking for a vocalist to fill in their former bandmate’s shoes.
Regarding this much-awaited announcement, the band wrote on their social media handles –
“When you are part of a band, especially for 15 plus years, you would know that friends who stick around are true friends. And in this journey, our friend has been with us through all. And now, it’s his time to show how resilient he is with a mic in his hands. We couldn’t think of anyone better who could fill in these shoes. Somebody on whom we can rely on. So let us introduce you to the new vocalist of Stark Denial, Rhennon D’Mello.”
A few days back, Stark Denial had also unveiled Rahul Singh as their official drummer. Before that, Vineet Nair used to handle the band’s drum duties until his eventual departure. Currently, the line-up of the band consists of Ruark D’Souza on guitar, Paresh Garude on bass, Rhennon D’Mello on vocal, and Rahul Singh on drums and percussion.

The Mumbai-based black metal quartet has been under the radar of the Indian metal community right since its inception in the year 2009. Over the ensuing years, they’ve gradually cemented their name as one of the exciting extreme metal bands to have come out of India in recent years, augmented by many live shows and tours across the Indian sub-continent. Till now, Stark Denial has released one EP ‘War’ (2013) and one full-length album titled ‘Covenant of Black’ (2018), the latter of which was released under the banner of Transcending Obscurity Records.
