While the Covid pandemic might have put a significant dent on live concerts and music festivals throughout the country since 2020, postponing and canceling events, independent shows with DIY ethos have been on the rise instead. One such initiative has been the PFS Sundowners, organized by the Paint Fish Studios in Silchar, Assam whose rooftop concert has witnessed some of the finest talents of this valley showcasing their art under the open sky of glaring stars.
The second edition of the PFS Sundowners will go down on September 25, 2022. The creative head behind this rooftop concert, Arup Mazumdar, an entrepreneur, visual artist, and filmmaker, is the sole proprietor of Paint Fish Studios. The maiden edition of the PFS Sundowners was held last year to a great reception from the crowd, with the potential to come back soon.
It all started in September 2019, when Paint Fish Studios organized a rooftop show to celebrate its third anniversary. Seeing the overall reaction from the crowd and enthusiasm, the success of the show paved the way for the current iteration of PFS Sundowners.
The first edition of the PFS Sundowners was held on February 21, 2022, to coincide with International Language Day. The event was a huge success and featured a wide array of musicians from across the valley, cutting through multiple genres.

The PFS Sundowners 2.0 will see artists like DJ Sureesha, jazz-fusion band Muse Park, renowned folk singer Bikramjit Baulia, metal outfit Hanukah, Dichromatix as well as a plethora of other musicians such as Kumardeep Das, guitarists Rohan Sen and Purnal Ron Sen, Krishnakoli Pompa and drummer Raj Nandi. Just like the previous edition, the second edition is a complete DIY effort, solely meant to celebrate music and arts.
Paint Fish Studios was established by Arup Mazumder way back in 2016. In the following years, the studio quickly climbed the ladder and created a portfolio with a lot of artistic diversity. From producing short films and music videos to covering various events and festivals, Paint Fish Studios has come a long way in establishing itself as a reliable hub for creative minds.
Its owner Arup Mazumder himself is an accomplished person in the field of arts and culture. Recipient of several awards and recognition such as Barak Valley Achiever’s Award 2019, and Barak Valley Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 by the Indian Awaz Foundation, among many others. His studio is located at Hospital Road in Silchar.
