Formed in 2022, Splinter is a thrash metal outfit based in Pune/Kolkata, that does not compromise with speed and intensity. After making their live presence felt this year, Splinter debuted their single ‘Kill The Parasite’ a few weeks back, which shows a lot of promise and potential for the band.

Splinter is a powerful trio consisting of Nilabja Banerjee on vocal/bass duties, Chirantan Ray on drums, and Rohit Roy on lead guitar. About the single, the band said, “The single ‘Kill The Parasite’ speaks about lashing out against systems of oppression. The band owes it to those across the globe who are fighting against the parasites for fueling our spirits”.

The track provides a haunting reminder of the 80s Bay area thrash, sprinkled all over with the touch of German Teutonic thrash metal and South American extreme metal. The venomous chanted vocal delivery of Nilabja, complimented by the intense thundering drumming and relentless riffing, provides the apt war cry against oppression, which the song speaks about.

The single was also accompanied by a visually graphic lyric video, which was made by Anusha Menon.

The band has also announced that they will be releasing their debut album this fall of 2023. The artwork of the single ‘Kill The Parasite’ has been designed by Jigmet Wangchok.
