Death metal veterans Demonic Resurrection have recently announced that they have parted ways with their longtime drummer Virendra Kaith. The Mumbai-based band announced this on Tuesday through a social media post, after playing for 16 years together.

Last year only, Demonic Resurrection released an album after 6 years titled ‘Decades of Darkness’ which received a lot of applause. Taking to social media, the band wrote, “When Viru joined the band he wasn’t a full-time drummer but today he is one of the most sought-after drummers and plays with some of the biggest names in the Indian music scene.”

“Unfortunately that also means that sometimes we have to make hard choices and we both agree it’s best for DR to move forward and find fresh blood to sit on that drum throne”, added the post dated April 18, 2023.

Virendra Kaith, or Viru as he’s fondly called, joined Demonic Resurrection back in 2007 after their former drummer JP quit the previous year. Since then, he has been an integral part of the band and went on to play in some of the landmark albums of the band such as ‘The Return To Darkness’, ‘The Demon King’ and ‘Dashavatar’.

The band also said that they will look forward to re-building the band with a new line-up, meaning they are already on the lookout for a new drummer to fill in the shoes of Virendra Kaith.

He said, “Love to all the fans that have supported us for all these years.

Listened to our music, attended our gigs, and bought our music and merch. It was a pleasure to be a part of Demonic Resurrection, which broke all the barriers, to be known on a global scale, and to create a platform for future bands from India. To the experiences I had with the Demonstealer, who pushed the limit of musicality with every album.”

He has also collaborated with some big Bollywood names like Neeti Mohan, Arjun Kanungo, Ash King, and Mahalakshmi Iyer for various projects. Currently, he plays drums for Bollywood singer Darshan Raval as a touring member.
