DEMONIC RESURRECTION announces new guitarist; Update on a new album in five years

1 min read

After years of hibernation, Mumbai-based death metal icons Demonic Resurrection is all set to make a comeback. Quite recently, the band has announced that they’ve roped in Aditya Swaminathan from Kill The King as their new guitarist.

Their former longtime player Nishith Hedge left Demonic Resurrection back in 2018, following which the band took to hiatus. They’ve also announced that the band would be releasing a brand new album this year, featuring some amazing names as guest musicians, such as drummer Kevin Paradis of Benighted, Misstiq and Pratika Evangeline Prabhune (the latter of whom has already collaborated with DR in the past).

The band, in their announcement, has also revealed that they’d be releasing a brand new single off the upcoming album, due on March 15, 2022, to mark Demonic Resurrection’s 22nd anniversary as a band. To fill in the shredding duties of the band’s upcoming unnamed album, Pune metaller Swaminathan has now joined forces with DR as their lead guitarist.

Since its inception back in 2000, DR has witnessed several line-up changes over the years with no two records featuring the same line-up. Sahil ‘Demonstealer‘ Makhija, frontman/guitarist and primary composer of the band, has been the only constant driver in the Demonic Resurrection camp. Being the flagbearer and at the forefront of the Indian metal revolution for over two decades now, DR has garnered a repute for being uncompromisingly consistent throughout its releases.

Their last album, titled ‘Dashavatar’, was released back in March 2017 which featured former DR members like Virendra Kaith, Nishith Hedge and Ashwin Shriyan. The album also had a host of guest musicians contributing to the album, making it one of the most creative and unique releases in the entire DR catalogue.

To date, Demonic Resurrection has released 5 full-length albums, one EP and one live album of their performance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival, UK in 2018.
