Two and a half decades have passed by since their inception, but Kryptos is showing no signs of slowing down. The heavy metal outfit from Bangalore has recently dropped a brand new single ‘Decimator’, which also happens to be the title track from their upcoming album to be released this year.

The heavy metal quartet, after a series of successful international tours in recent years, has returned to the studio once again to release a full-length album. Titled ‘Decimator’, the record will mark their seventh studio album, and their first release since their last album ‘Force Of Danger’ came out in 2021.

Kryptos have always sported their influence from the NWOBHM movement of the early 80s, with a pinch of extreme metal accompanying their sound. ‘Decimator’ also doesn’t shy away from flexing those influences, albeit done in a very tasteful manner.

Dipped in the heavy metal nostalgia of the 80s, the band has succeeded once again in making their listeners hooked and banging their heads. Think of blazing fast riffs and pulsating double bass drumming, sewn together with tightly-knit rhythm section.

Kryptos has always kept it simple yet heavy. The single ‘Decimator’ isn’t any different either, but still manages to strike a chord with the ethos of the traditional heavy metal aesthetics.

Frontman Nolan’s harsh throated delivery evokes early Mille Petrozza-esque vocals, while the drumming has been incessantly fast and immaculate on this one.

Talking about the single and their upcoming record, Nolan Lewis says, “Decimator is without question our finest hour so far. We’ve sharpened our songwriting to a razor point and the album is absolutely exploding with pure heavy metal power and attitude.”

The track’s relentless tempo and searing guitar solos evoke the spirit of traditional heavy metal, harkening back to the golden era of the genre. Lyrically, ‘Decimator’ explores themes of destruction and rebellion, echoing the defiant ethos of classic metal anthems.

“Once you’ve popped it into your stereo, you’re going to be raising your fist, air-guitaring to the riffs and humming the solos all year long. It’s as perfect a combination of classic 80s metal and caustic thrash sensibilities as you’re ever going to get. So turn it up crank it to the max!”

The album is co-produced by Jamie Elton and Kryptos and will see the light of day on July 5, 2024, via AFM Records.
