1 min read

One of the flag bearers of the Indian extreme metal scene, Inner Sanctum has been out of the studio for the better part of the last half-decade. But a few days back, the death/thrash outfit surprisingly came up with the details of their upcoming release. Both the band and their vocalist Gaurav Basu had announced that on their respective social feeds. The brand new single, titled ‘Divided By Hate’, will be released on the 22nd of December, this year. In a separate post today, Inner Sanctum has given a sneak peek of the single’s artwork captioning ‘We dedicate it to our new reality where we live in a lawless imperious state divided by hate’.Screenshot 20201126 220704 2

The Bangalore based death/thrash quintet is known for their scathing social commentary on hatred, bigotry, war, oppression, chaos and anarchy. And judging by Inner Sanctum’s latest post, the new single too could probably revolve around such themes. Their last release, a full length titled ‘Legions Awake’, was released back in 2015 to raving reviews all around the globe. The album even fetched them two individual honors at the 2016 edition of G-Shock Rolling Stone Metal Awards, namely Best Guitarist and Best Drummer categories, thereby showcasing their individual prowess as ace-level musicians.

However, the turning point of the band’s career came probably in 2011, when the group got to open for the legendary thrash band Metallica at Rock N’ India festival. The following year, they again got to open in the same festival, but this time for another thrash icon Slayer, which kind of cemented their place as one of the leaders of the Indian extreme metal circuit.
