After sifting through several line-up changes and individual commitments over the years, Silver Tears have unveiled a brand new song, and this time accompanied by a music video premiere which is intriguingly spectacular and trippy.

The new song titled ‘New Day’ is an instrumental arrangement that showcases the band’s penchant for a modern progressive approach in their sound. The music video, which was made by Siddhanth Purkayastha, Pranjeevan Adhikary, and Bhargab Phukan at Pek Studios, narrates the story of a character who tries to escape from his mundane reality into the virtual world but instead finds this new world more awful than his reality.

The band has been hyping up this release for the past few weeks, tagging their posts by the label “Excessive Pigeon Violence”. In the ‘New Day’ music video, the character tries to fight off an army of malicious pigeons in virtual reality, giving it a video game-laden feel. “All of this began with our shared distrust of pigeons. There’s something uncanny about them,” said the makers of this video about the idea behind this bizarre story.

When it comes to sound and composition, Silver Tears have successfully evoked all the elements that make the right recipe for a modern atmospheric sound. Reflective of the tone known for artists such as Plini, Intervals, and Chon, the song is full of intricacies and sonic cascades bound to keep its listeners hooked. A worthy follow-up to their last single ‘Miseries’ released in 2020.

With the release of this music video, they have also announced that their long-time bassist and co-founder Biswajit Chakraborty has left the band. Rahul Putai has already taken over the bass duties, and the band is now working on releasing their first record since their debut EP ‘Dirt Beyond Beauty’ came out in 2011.

The song ‘New Day’ was produced by Ishan Das and mixed and mastered by Akash Sawant from Mumbai.
